There are numerous walks from your front door. Behind the cottage is Hampsfell which rises to 727 feet and is a 25 minute walk to the summit. There is a magnificent 360 degrees panorama and this photo shows the view towards the Lakeland Fells.

At the summit of Hampsfell is a limestone tower known as the Hospice. There are steps to the top from which to view the magnificent panorama and a viewfinder and information board to show what you are looking at.
